Ross began his VC career as an application reviewer for YCombinator, screening more than 12,000 companies before returning to UWaterloo to help guide the next generation of entrepreneurs. He served as a business advisor, fund lead and interim director at Velocity – leading the spin out of Velocity Fund from the University of Waterloo. Over the last 2 years, he has led 30 new investments and has advised over 70 companies as they scale from pre-seed through to Series A.​

Ross has spent his entire career building and supporting early-stage companies. The son of two tech entrepreneurs, he started his first company at Velocity in 2010, as a third year CS student. Using the lessons from that first endeavour, he started Tinker (YC ’14), a cryptocurrency market maker that accounted for 10% of North American and 90% of Canadian Bitcoin trading volume at its peak. He went on to be Director of Product at security startup Bannerman, where he led design and engineering to create products that helped protect thousands of people. ​
